The Seventh Age

The Seventh Age

Background

The current age that is coming to a close. It differs from previous ages due to presence of widespread agriculture. It begins in approximately 600 BFE.

Early Days of the Seventh Age

The Seventh Age begins in approximately 600 BFE (years before the founding of the Empire of Polonia).

~600 BFE: At this point, the great civilization of the elves had mostly disappeared, the Ancient Dominion of the Orcs was in chaos and decline due to this disappearance of central leadership, and humans were just beginning to migrate across the lands.Throughout the early Seventh Age, the last vestiges of Orcish and Elven forces occasionally battled (e.g., The Fall of Alluria), but mostly adhered to an undeclared truce that divided The Riding between the two races.

~400 BFE: When humans appeared in The Riding in approximately 400 BFE, they were seen as little threat to either race. Humans possessed neither the strength or skill in arms of the Orcs nor the wisdom and magic of the Elves. Nonetheless, the populations of humans did increase much faster than that of either the Elves or Orcs and as the human population expanded, the humans began to encroach on the lands claimed by the other races. As tensions mounted, humans inevitably provoked encounters with both the Elves and Orcs. Neither race was willing to allow the humans to become allies with the other, and numerous skirmishes were fought in order to preserve the rights and properties, either real or imagined, of all three races.

~300 BFE: The Treaty of Hammerstand was eventually signed and was intended to secure lands and privileges for each of the three races. The signing of the treaty is typically considered the event ending the Primeval Days. After the signing of the treaty, the orcs and elves retreated from The Riding - the elves deep into the Black Forest and the orcs into the Badcrag Mountains - and were rarely seen again.

Latter Days of the Seventh Age

At this point, the great civilization of the elves had mostly disappeared, the Ancient Dominion of the Orcs was in chaos and decline due to this disappearance of central leadership, and humans were beginning to dominate The Riding. In many cases, children were born of humans and the remnants or the elvish and orcish populations.

What the Party Knows:

  • Ammon of the Brown Robed Clerics Group told the party that the end of the seventh age was approaching before being killed outside of the Vale of Alluria.
  • The writings that document The Fall of Alluria state that it occurred during the Seventh Age.
  • Mistress Valenna of the Lyceum Arcanum has asked the help of the party as they search for allies in order to counter whatever happen to be the evil plans of the Orcs and Polonians associated with the end of the age.
