Setup
Percy arrives on the back of a two-headed dragon and lands atop Castle Rend. He gives a lengthy villain speech with the following highlights:
He’s a badass.
He knows the party is full of dangerous, important people.
He senses treachery afoot within the party.
And now so super cool spell effect is going to cause the party to fight to the virtual death in a hallucinatory dream sequence.
The party battles with the following highlights:
Nymeria seems to do the most damage in any round with a fireball that hits four combatants with its area of effect, but she is ultimately felled by Cal.
Cal uses the single vorpal charge in his blade (dream style) to dispatch Nymeria, but goes down as Ser Shadow continually knives him from behind.
Ser Shadow is seemingly teamed with Yornan, and - after killing Cal - spends much of his time stalking Rhagal.
Rhagal plays sniper on top of one of the guard towers before flying from tower to tower to remain safe. He duels Ser Shadow in an epic slap fight but is ultimately forced from the tower by Hurodash and winds up in a scrum surrounding Yornan.
Yornan, surrounded by enemies, heals himself a lot, but is ultimately felled by Hurodash who finally gets his revenge.
Hurodash - who had spent much of the contents either banished or held by Yornan - rages, chases people, and is ultimately felled at the very end by Corliss.
Corliss, relying on Improved Invisibility to stay hidden for most of the fight, gets last licks and kills Hurodash to win.
Recap
Meet the family
Upon dispersing the Polonians, the party is invited in to meet the Old Man of the Village, Hatori Bongo and his three badass assassin sidekicks, the “Shadows”.
The “Shadows” are named Indomus, Cyrus, and Gurgle.
Ser Shadow wishes to immediately commence the trial to become a Wind Walker. The “Shadows” think he is unready, but Hatori gives a nod.
He needs to find the place make his sacrifice.
The path there
The party traverses a downward spiral staircase that has huge gusts of air blowing up through a gate at the bottom.
They kill off some nasty undead things on the way (i.e., a wall-climbing wight and flying, goo-spitting lizards).
They pop through the gate to a mostly featureless desert and a tremendously huge sandstorm.
They work their way to a huge spire that turns out to have the lair of a dragon on top.
With the Dragon
Ser Shadow pops his ruined eye out as a sacrifice that is accepted. Ser Shadow’s neck tattoo flares to life as he becomes a Wind Walker.
The dragon, Brechtohla, offers to answer some questions, including:
He is the chaperone for Hatori Bongo, the aspirant of air.
The dragons converse rarely, but Brechtohla knows that the red dragon Igniel has found an Aspirant of Fire and their are rumors of an another Aspirant.
Brechtohla greets both Hurodash and Yornan as “Blessed” and tells them they need to find their own dragon chaperones.
Back in the Village
Ser Shadow leaves the Lamp of Al-Arakh as requested by Hatori.
Hatori tells Ser Shadow that he will need him in the final battle and is waiting for him.
