Rhagal and Ser Shadow, possibly cousins, also turned out to repay a favor to Martin, but for undisclosed reasons.

In It turned out that Martin had arranged to provide caravan guards to Polonian caravan master Percy du Ramshead to secure a shipment headed to Greenmouth from Highbridge. The adventurers were provided a few trinket magic items, a map, and instructions to seize the caravan and deliver it to a green barn about a day and a half into the mission. The wagon full of weapons was mentioned to be of particular significance. The full collection of workers associated with the caravan were Caravan Master Percy du Ramshead; his Guard Captain Zinedine the Caravan Guard; four native Riding folk that hired out as itinerant guards, Abel, Baker, Charlie, and Ahwschit; and the five adventurers.

Immediately upon the group meeting each other, Zinedine attempted to intimidate Bakdor, resulting in an errant swing of Bakdor's axe and a counterpunch from Zinedine that knocked Bakdor to the ground. The fisticuffs continued that evening, as after making camp, Zinedine and Bakdor squared off in a wrestling match during which an exhausted Zinedine barely triumphed over Bakdor. After the fight ended, Zinedine headed off into the woods, presumably to recover, while Abel took the first guard shift and the others prepared for sleep. The group decided that this was their best chance to steal the caravan. As Yornan distracted Abel, Rhagal slipped into the woods, found Zinedine kneeling by a small stream, and stabbed him in the back. Zinedine responded by attacking Rhagal, the camp awakeawoke, and everyone ran to Rhagal's aid. Zinedine was quickly dispatched, with Rhagal dealing the final blow.
