Setup

The party has just run the hedge maze gauntlet created by Lady Suvall and is pondering their next move to help them complete their task of entering the Fey Library and learning what they can about the coming convergence associated with the imminent end of the Seventh Age.

Let’s Make a Deal

Impressed by his use of Mage Hand, but confused as to how a mortal such as Rhagal is limited to the schools of enchantment and illusion, Lady Suvall offers Rhagal a deal. In return for two-thirds of his luck and all of the color in his hair, she will free the magical blocks in his body and allow him to choose spells from any school. Rhagal agrees and is instantly transformed. Now, he sports long white locks.

Then, Lady Suvall opens a path through the forest that leads directly to the library in only a few short moments. The party starts down the path and quickly emerges from the woods, finding themselves on the shore of a large, quicksilver lake. In the middle of the lake is a rocky isle and on that isle is a squat, square building with a soaring tower. Hurodash circles the lake and sees that the bottom level of the building is festooned with ribbons and torches while the upper level of the tower are filled only with occasional flickering lights.

On the edge of the lake is a satyr serving as a boatman, but he refuses to ferry the party across the lake without them presenting tickets for the party. Instead, he gestures towards a small wooden shack built around stairs leading in the underground that supposedly lead to an alternate way across the lake.

Ghosts

The party is forced to traverse a tunnel beneath the lake that is filled with creeper vines that reach out and grab at the party, attach suckers, and attempt to leech out their essence. The walls of the tunnel are filled with the skeletons of those that had apparently failed to successfully navigate the tunnel before.

One skeleton has an Amulet of Clem's Son that Yornan noticed. Ser Shadow dexterously reaches in amongst all the creepers and pulls it from the skeleton’s neck. The two of them pass it back and forth as they try to figure out what it does.

As the party progresses further down the corridor, ghosts of the deceased emerge from the walls and attack the party. One ghost possesses Yornan and the party is forced to knock him unconscious to drive out the ghost and kill it. Faced with the appearance of more and more ghosts, Yornan turns a wave of them with his divine powers and the party makes a break for it, eventually climbing up a set of stairs and emerging on the library island.

Party Time. Excellent.

The party boldly walks up to the front door of the library and enters. Yornan is mistaken for Fogbert Whitwurt, the judge of the contest that is the most important event of the evening. He uses this to quickly shepherd all of the others inside. Learning that he also needs to bring the prize that is to be awarded, he concocts a story about having it delivered and distracts the concierge and his helpers as the look for the phantom package delivery.

As the party pushes their way into the crowd of fairies, satyrs and other fey creatures, they are each engaged by a party goer.

Archduchess Leylandra, a female nymph that is the hostess of the party begins speaking to Rhagal about her desire to win the Best Dressed contest that is to be judged by the missing Fogbert. She fears that the live, rainbow cat scarf worn by another contestant is so striking that she will be unable to win unless she gets to wear the scarf. As the hostess, she can grant the party access to the library tower, but she wants the cat scarf in return. By the way, the voice of Alluria contemptuously whispers to Rhagal that Leylandra is a “slutbag”.

Severus, an androgynous-looking male, colored green and covered with tattoos of vines, is the attendee wearing the cat scarf. An extremely lascivious playboy, his attention quickly turns to Ser Shadow. Ser Shadow plays along, dancing with him and using his moves to garner Severus’s complete attention. At an opportune moment, he uses a chloroform napkin on the cat and then knocks the cat to the floor during a particularly deep dip.

Meanwhile, Corliss is speaking to Whisper, a satyr male that is a poet with no game. Whisper looks longingly about the room, radiating desperateness, and trying and failing to catch the attention of the nymphs at the party. Corliss gets in his head and tells him that if he grabs the cat scarf and leaves the party then all the nymphs will follow. Soon after, the chloroformed cat falls to ground and before anyone else can react, Whisper whisks it up and moves towards the door. However, at the door, he has second thoughts about leaving and instead thinks that maybe he can attract attention at the party if he is wearing the scarf.

Hurodash winds up talking to a bored male gremlin named Grimscour that is bored at the party and has some special fireworks that he wants to fire off to create a little entertainment and perhaps perturb Leylandra. Hurodash and Grimscour divide up the fireworks and make a plan to drop them in the punch bowl at the foot of the stage where a bard is playing.

The bard turns out to be Cappen Varra and after exchanging conspiratorial grins, Hurodash lights a firecracker and throws it onstage. The internal contents hiss and smoke and give off an oily smell that infuriates Cappen Varra but does not explode. Corliss uses this opportunity to leap on stage, mock Cappen Varra, and take over for a bit.

In the chaos that ensues: Hurodash explodes a series of fireworks and sprays punch on all the leading contenders for the contest, Rhagal steals priceless artifacts from the museum in the basement of the Fey Library, Corliss gets to play multiple songs on stage for a gaggle of groupie nymphs, Yornan cuts a deal with the actual contest judge to make certain that Leylandra wins which winds up requiring Hurodash to eat his pal Buddy (didn’t happen, thanks to a Corliss illusion!), and Ser Shadow twice has personal relations with the Archduchess in the space beneath the stage.

Aftermath

Leylandra gives the order for the guards to stand aside and the stairwell leading up to the Library Tower is free and clear.
