The High Bridge for which the city is named is a massive, iron construction that spans the Green River, connecting the walled city on the west bank with the village of Overtown on the east bank. The bridge reaches as high as thirty feet above the water. It is approximately 15 20 feet wide and almost a quarter mile long.
