Setup

With the body of Alluria, and with Ser Shadow back in tow, the party goes back to the Vale of Alluria. As they enter the Vale, they find that a tribe of primitive elven warriors has taken up residence.

Typical Negotiations

The elves appear to few the Vale as the property of them and their ancestors and aren’t happy to see interlopers. When the party explains that they have the dead body of the person that belongs in the Tomb, the elves only offer is for the party to leave the body for them to examine and perhaps inter. In the meantime, the party is expected to leave.

An initial attempt at additional negotiations by Yornan quickly leads to a battle of champions to see if the party is worthy to enter the tomb. Hurodash and a spear-twirling Elvish champion battle for a few rounds before Corliss’s attempt to use magic to influence the battle raises cries of cheating and a larger battle. The tribe of elves does everything in the power to kill Hurodash, including snipers shooting arrows from trees, the branches of trees being animated and bashing people, and cats being summoned from the wild to join the fray. Nonetheless, the party prevails.

Entering the Tomb

Within the tomb, the party finds the remnants of their last visit, including the broken sarcophagus still wedged in the sliding door and holding it open. Rhegal leaps through the gap, somersaulting and coming to his feat within the inner sanctum. He is perhaps surprised to find the figure of an old man, wreathed in or made of the flames that fill the far end of the chamber. Hurodash quickly follows, the dead body still slung over his shoulder.

The kinder visage of the older man, intended to lure intruders within his range, turns into the screaming form of a demon and blasts three fire bolts, swings with both claws, and attempts to charm Hurodash, all to no effect. The remainder of the party files in, but before anything else can happen, Rhegal lifts the body from Hurodash’s shoulder and dunks it in the open sarcophagus.

Immediately the body turns in shining sparkles that briefly form into the shape of a beautiful but earthly elvish wonder that leans in, kisses Rhagel on the check, and then swirls and appears to disappear into the bow. Her voice speaks within Rhagal’s head and says that they cannot defeat the demon and must flee.

The demon moves to block the exit, but each of the party members managed to evade him and escape safely back to the surface.

Setup

The adventure begins with a quick stop at the office of Yancey Figbottom in which he gushes over the extremely interesting spell book rescued from the ruins of Kithkaira. However, quickly the party decides to follow the pull of the Bow of Alluria towards the Orcish lands to the east and towards her resting place.

Going In

The party is led to a box canyon deep in an arid and unwelcoming portion on the western flank of the Badcrag Mountains. There they find a large portion of a canyon wall carved intricately carved and surrounding oversized double wooden doors. The doors are suffused with the color green and the party recognizes the same magic they had seen in Kithkaira. Yornan uses his magic symbol and they move inside.

The initial corridor is a series of individual rooms, each covered with fresco depicting Orcish victories, primarily over Elves as well as many figures - some unidentifiable - bringing treasures and other offerings to the Orc king depicted over each doorway leading deeper into the temple complex.

All the while, the party can hear noises as if there are others in the building watching and tracking them.

The Temple Center

The party emerges into a large temple room. The ceilings are more than twenty feet high. Four deep wells are bleaching out heat and fumes from lava below. A large statue of an orcish warrior fills the west end of the room and surrounds a large throne. The east end of the room sports a small alcove covered by another greenish field. That alcove appears to contain a smaller orcish statue holding an axe and - laying on a bier - the uncorrupted body of Alluria.

Hurodash and Rhegal each examine the throne, with Hurodash pushing Rhegal from the seat and sitting there himself. A small tingle runs through his body as he does. Yornan and Corliss penetrate the green field and examine the body. Hurodash eventually pulls the axe from the statue also.

All Heck Breaks Loose

After the field is removed, Orcish warriors and priests, all dressed in the ancient styles seen in the ruins of Kithkaira, charge into the room. A huge battle ensues and the party refuses to yield or run, instead managing to hold their own. The party manages to use the flaming gouts from the wells against the orcs and each of the warriors that confronts Hurodash flees after being struck. At some point amidst all this, Hurodash finds that his left arm is covered in what appears to be a flickering flame tattoo.

The party finally escapes from the temple with the body and wisely decides that - instead of burning the body that the elves of old had taken such effort to preserve - they should return it to its intended resting place in the Vale of Alluria.
